Try the beautiful and versatile Hebe!
A most sought-after shrub from New Zealand!
The plants known as
Hebe, (pronounced
"hee-bee") are a genus from the family Scrophulariaceae.  They do especially well on the coast and in any fairly mild climate...we love them!  We are finding that some varieties grow well in many parts of the U.S. too! We are sure Hebe will grow in popularity as the U.S. is introduced to these versatile and evergreen shrubs!
Hebe "Autumn Glory"
One of the most popular in the Northwest, a great Hebe with masses of blue/violet flowers on evergreen foliage.  Our variety has reddish leaf margins too. To 3 feet.  Flowers in summer to fall.
Zones 7/8+

Hebe Champion: fast and healthy!
We are no longer able to sell all Hebe plants as potted plants shipped via mail-order (see availability list above).  We do however sell Hebe by pre-order plugs!  This is a great way to get Hebe plants since they grow so fast!
How it works:
1. Choose the varieties you are interested in by browsing the following Hebe pages for pictures...
2. Check the availability list link above...
3. Pre-pay the quoted amount plus shipping.  (this is very reasonable, rooted plugs start at $4.00 each, and shipping is reasonable since plants are still quite small!)
4.  We will propagate the plants that you desire and root them.  Plants will take approx. 2 months to root well.
5. We will ship you your new plants as soon as they are ready to plant.        Want More Info?
More Info on Hebe Plugs
There are so many good reasons for selling Hebes by rooted plugs!  First and foremost; Hebes naturally grow very quickly and become over-sized and root-bound.  Plants that are small and not pot-bound, establish in a permanent or semi-permanent ( IE large pot) position faster, are more healthy, and are more resistance to diseases.  Hebes are especially perfect for growing from rooted cuttings since some can reach full size in two years.
Shipping price of full-size plants is also prohibitive!
This method allows a customer to get several plants - 50, 100 or more and the price will be very reasonable.  (Quantity discount available on all orders over 50 plants).
Bare-rooting will not be necessary.  One of the most labor intensive activities we had was trying to bare-root full grown Hebes for shipping.  This will be eliminated!
I realize waiting two months for something in a world of instant gratification is asking a lot.  I promise it will be worth it in the quality of plants that you receive!  Thank you for continuing to trust us as your Hebe plant source!
Please browse though our Hebe pages and let me know if any strike your fancy!  Chances are we have either small plants to ship you or in 2 months can ship you good-sized well-rooted cuttings.

updated for 2009
Many of our Hebe plants were damaged by severe frost in December that is rare in Coastal Oregon.  Almost of of our hardier stock is still ok and the tender varieties will recover in the summer time.  We just may not have the diversity we would normally have to offer.  Thank You for your patience!
BIG CHANGES FOR 2009...
We regret to inform you that we will not be carrying Hebe plants for sale...
Due to "life" intervening in the form of an employment offer that cannot be refused,
our online orders part of the business is currently on hold until we can devote the time required for this.
Meanwhile, we are open on location here in Toledo, Oregon on
Fridays from 12-6 and Saturdays from 10-6
Thank you to all past customers for your support and hope to see you out here!
Sincerely,

Chris
